I enjoy your posts! I was 5th generation growing up on a Missouri farm. The way our family managed on that small 120 acre farm could not be done today. I miss the down-to-earth ethos and way of life, and, most of all, several of those good people who I, quite rightly, looked up to.
Clayton - thank you for an excellent and informative article. Much of that was new to us. Happy Re-Birthday, Texas Progressives! Not to be snarky, but if that can happen in Texas, there is hope for the rest of us. March on! And no, we're not going back!!
Jim, Many thanks for Clayton's "right-on" article and special thanks to you for keeping your head on straight and eyes down the road for all these years. re your note: I can't quite relate since I am 22 days younger, but I can tell you that you and your ideas are always in my heart.
Clayton - Democrats like you and Kamala are helping energize and embolden the Base! Well done! Let’s all step up and keep building the momentum! From a fellow rural Texan!
Jim, on dad's side I am a Tarheel 'scalawag', an actual second-generation Southern white anti-racist (I would guess you're another of that rare but extant species of humankind) and I've been saying for decades that it was NO ACCIDENT that the slave states had NO public education for ANYONE of ANY shade of skin until Reconstruction! That's how democracy was crushed in those states for everyone but RICH white planters by 1840! So, I couldn't agree with you more!
Btw: did you know that, while, 94 percent of the Union army were literate, no more than 53% of the traitor armies could read or write?
Yes vouchers only work for people who have money and time to take their children elsewhere, leaving the old schools with less funds
And these vouchers take away money necessary to fund public schools
Working families have taken a back seat for far too long. I think it's past time to dethrone the autocrats.
GO progressives! Go Kamala! Defeat Trump!

Thank you, Clayton! I love your post! Great history -- and reminder of the policies that did in, in fact, build the middle class.
Glad to have you here!

The rich are now richer and noisier. Indeed that anti tax bunch deteriorates our society always and everywhere. But thanks for the hope!
If Harris breaks more from Biden, actually lots more, maybe we all can join each other again to CARE.
